Assam against the coronavirus: Two major stadiums in Guwahati to be converted into temporary hospitals

To handle the coronavirus pandemic, the Assam government is stepping up quarantine facilities.

As per latest reports, the Government of Assam has decided to convert two big stadiums of the state namely, Nehru and Sarusajai stadiums in Guwahati into temporary hospitals to treat coronavirus.

The State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the stadiums will have a capacity of 1,000 each & will be used to quarantine affected people.

Earlier the minister confirmed to use GMCH, MMC & Sonapur Civil Hospital of Guwahati to treat coronavirus patients in Assam. Strengthening the accommodation, now IDSP hospital of Kalapahar in Guwahati, Government Ayurvedic College Hospital & Model Hospital at Singimari also get added to the list.
