Assam against the COVID-19: 2 new testing centres in the state, three hospitals for Guwahati

The Assam State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a press meet today regarding the COVID-19 situation in Assam.

The minister stated that the State will be completely locked down from tomorrow 6 pm onwards till 31st March midnight in the wake of the coronavirus.

Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the Assam Government will initiate testings of the COVID-19 in two new places namely Barpeta & Tezpur Medical College and Hospital apart from the present 4 centres present in the state.

He also stated that the Government will do all the necessary to fight the coronavirus & hence in Guwahati there will be three hospitals that will be used for the coronavirus treatment.

The centres are Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Mahendra Muhan Chaudhury Hospital (MMC) and Sonapur Civil  Hospital.

He also instructed that no doctor or medical staff will be allowed any leave from here on unless in case of extreme emergency.

Keeping the extreme contagiousness of the virus in mind, he further stated that the state government will convert all Hotels, IBs, University hostels etc. to quarantine facilities and DCs of the respective districts have been informed regarding the same.
