60 ventilators in Assam, 104 helpline for coronavirus: Himanta Biswa Sarma


While more than 400 people affected by the COVID-19 across the nation, the Assam Government today has announced a complete lockdown of the state w.e.f tomorrow till 31st March midnight.

In the press meet, Sarma addressed the issue of the disease and requested the people of Assam to stay indoors during the lockdown.

Regarding the smooth conduction of the lockdown, the minister stated that violation of the regulation will lead to imprisonment of two years or fine or both according to IPC 270.

He stated that the older generation are more vulnerable to the disease & with no proper treatment available, there is no way round for them. Hence, he requested everyone to maintain precautionary measures & to stay indoors.

In response to a question asked by a journalist, the minister said that Assam at present has 60 ventilators dedicated for the coronavirus where as 100 more is on the way after his discussion with the manufacturers.

He further stated that, the people of Assam can call to the 104  helpline number for any query or help regarding the Coronavirus.
