Kaziranga National Park, Assam, July 13: A God in disguise for the animals in danger inside and outside the Kaziranga National Park (KNP), naturalist Manoj Gogoi is fund crunched at this alarming flood situation in Kaziranga.
Gogoi, who has been volunteering for helping the animals of Kaziranga since 2007, had alone been holding the cause to save the faunas in any danger near Kaziranga without any government aid. He was the savior to hundreds of animals affected by flood last year but lack of man power couldn’t save many hundreds more.
Speaking to KhoborNortheast, Manoj Gogoi said, “it is my love for the animals and birds that makes me a rescuer of them. I have been doing this since last ten years and every year I get into tension when the flood tension rises in KNP. It saddens me that even after working so hard and trying my best; I can’t save all the animals and birds affected by flood.“
“I hold awareness programmes for the people in villages near Kaziranga, to make them aware about how to be prepared during flood situation and how to behave with the flood affected wild animals. I have also been preparing my rescue team of the village children. But they are poor villagers, all the time they can’t work for free. Again, without sufficient man power with me, it will not be able to save all the animals affected in the flood.” he added.
Manoj Gogoi was earlier a travel guide impressing tourists with his knowledge about the place, but his love for wildlife had led him to dedicate his life for rescuing troubled animals, reptiles and birds. He is now looking forward for some government aid to increase his man power with him in order to be able to rescue more animals during flood.
