Assam Film maker Rima Das brought laurels to the state yet again, as her film ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ bagged special award at the Melbourne Film Festival on Thursday.
Veteran Film maker Jhanu Barua’s ‘Bhoga Khirikee’ was also nominated for the award. Both the filmmakers from the State were also nominated for the Best Director Award.
Rima’s ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ bagged the best Indian movie award at the film festival.
Bulbul Can Sing was also screened as the opening night film of the film festival, which was attended by King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan as the Chief Guest he also presented the movie to the Australian audiences in Melbourne.
Rima Das shot to global fame when her film ‘Village Rockstars‘ which was an Assamese language film won the National Award for Best Feature Film in 2018.
It was even India’s official entry from the country to the Oscars.
